She created the character Noddy and the adventures of the "Famous Five" and "Secret Seven". She dealt with 17 different publishers, and on average wrote some 15 new books per year; she was able to complete a 50,000-word Famous Five adventure in a week. She has been criticized by educationalists for social, racial, and sexual stereotyping. Sales of Enid Blyton books now number more than 8 million copies a year, with translations into 27 languages. Noddy alone sold over 100 million copies 1949-95. In 1996 Trocadero plc, the entertainment company, purchased the remaining 43 years of copyright to all Blyton's books - more than 600 titles - for ú13 million.
